What's New at Snestico: Lease Checker, Deposit Protection and More

October updates: an AI Lease Checker, a Deposit Protection Kit, Scam Check, smarter roommate scores, and a Marketplace and Events that work end to end.

Snestico has shipped a lot in the past few weeks. Most of it is aimed at the riskiest moments of renting: signing a lease, paying a deposit and getting that deposit back. Here's what's new and where to find it.

Leases are long, and the clauses that cost renters the most are rarely on page one. Lease Checker reads yours and lays out the key terms in plain English, each next to the lease's own wording: rent and due date, late fees, the lease term, renewal and notice, ending early, the deposit, repairs, landlord entry, subletting, pets and more.

Once a check is saved, the assistant goes further. It gives you a verdict ("Looks fair", "Negotiate first" or "Think twice") with the reasons that matter most. It answers questions like "Can I end the lease early?" from your lease only, and says so when the lease doesn't cover something. It can draft a message to your landlord asking for changes, which you can edit and send yourself; Snestico never sends it for you. It can also compare two leases side by side, and translate the results into Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, Korean, Vietnamese, Arabic and more, with legal terms kept in English.

The time to protect your deposit is move-in day, not move-out day. The Deposit Protection Kit walks you through each room. Tap a condition for the walls, floors, windows and appliances, add a note and photograph every scratch. Each photo is timestamped when it reaches Snestico.

Rental scams usually end with a request for money before you've seen the place. Paste in the listing and the message asking you to pay, and Scam Check shows the red flags, any earlier reports and what to do next.

Not everyone cares about the same things in a roommate. In your matching preferences, you can now pick up to five things under What matters most , and your match scores weigh those more heavily. The preferences form also starts blank instead of saving guesses, so your scores reflect only what you've actually told us. Roommate profiles open as a full page, with every preference written out in words, and Discover keeps loading more people as you scroll.

You can now download everything in your account as a single file, from Dashboard → Profile → Security Settings. Google Maps also loads only after you allow maps, either in the cookie banner or with "Show map" on the map itself.
