How Snestico Works

Tell it how you live. It finds real homes, the people to share them with and the neighborhood around them.

Snestico is a housing assistant for renters who want more than a list of empty rooms. You describe the place you want in your own words, and Snesty, the AI assistant, searches live listings across several sites at once, then answers your questions about each home with real data: whether the price is fair, how long the commute is, who to contact and what it would cost to move in. When you need someone to share with, roommate matching explains why each person fits. Here is each step.

1. Describe the place you want, in plain English

Type what you would tell a friend: "2-bed near Temple University under $2,000, pet-friendly, close to the subway." Snesty reads the budget, the area, the number of bedrooms and the must-haves from that one sentence. Filters are there if you want them, but you don't have to fill in a form.

One search covers live listings from Realtor.com and Redfin, plus listing pages Google finds on Zillow, Apartments.com, Trulia, HotPads and other sites. Live listings come first, with photos, prices and their own page on Snestico; the web results sit in their own row so you can see where each one comes from.

2. Ask anything about the homes you see

The conversation keeps going after the results. Ask "Is the first one a fair price?" and Snesty compares it with similar homes in the same results (same size, rent or sale) and tells you what it comes to split with roommates. Ask "How long is the drive to Center City?" and it times the trip from each home, then sets that place as your commute so every card shows its drive, walk or bike time.

Ask about a specific home, such as "Does the second one allow pets?", "Is there in-unit laundry?" or "What are the schools like nearby?", and the answer comes from that listing's own details. You can compare two homes, ask how much income a rental needs, what you'll need to move in, or what the monthly payment on a home for sale would be. Signed-in members can ask who to contact and get the leasing office or agent's name, phone and email.

  • Fair price: compared with similar homes in the same results, or the city's live figures
  • Commute: drive, walk or bike time from each home to the place you name
  • Costs: income landlords usually ask for, move-in money, mortgage estimates
  • Details: pets, parking, laundry, size, year built, HOA, schools and floor plans, from the listing itself

3. See red flags before you fall for a listing

Each card is checked for the warning signs renters most often miss. A home priced far below similar ones in the same search is flagged rather than shown as a deal, because that is how many rental scams look. Listings that mention wire transfers, gift cards or paying a deposit before a viewing are flagged too, as are listings that were posted more than a month ago and may already be gone.

4. Find a roommate who actually fits

Roommate matching compares up to 24 everyday habits: cleanliness, noise, sleep schedule, guests, cooking, pets, smoking, chores, quiet hours, work-from-home needs and more. Each match shows what you agree on, where you differ and any dealbreakers, so you know why a score is high or low. From any listing you can also see people looking for a place in that area whose budget fits their share of the rent.

5. Talk and meet safely

Messages with roommates and marketplace sellers stay in the app, so you don't have to hand out your phone number to start a conversation. Members can verify their identity with a photo ID, student ID or proof of address; our team reviews each request and approved members get a Verified badge. Anyone can report a user, listing, post or item, and listing contacts are shown to signed-in members only.

6. Settle in with community and a local marketplace

Moving in usually means buying a desk, a sofa or a bike, and moving out means selling them. The local marketplace connects the two, with in-app chat for pickup. The community feed is where neighbors share tips, events and recommendations, and saved-search alerts email you when new homes match a search you care about.

Common questions

Is Snestico free?

Yes. Finding a home is free: AI property search, roommate matching, Scam Check, the local marketplace and messaging, with a free account. Optional extras are paid once and never renew, like a 30-day Move Pass ($14.99) for faster hunts and unlimited AI search.

Where do Snestico's listings come from?

Live listings come from Realtor.com and Redfin, with their photos, prices and details. Snesty also shows listing pages that Google finds on sites such as Zillow, Apartments.com, Trulia and HotPads, labeled with the site they come from.

Can I describe my ideal apartment in plain English instead of using filters?

Yes. Snesty reads your budget, area, bedrooms and must-haves from a sentence like "pet-friendly 1-bed near the subway under $1,800", and you can keep refining in conversation: "cheaper ones", "with parking", "closer to campus".

Does Snestico replace Zillow or Apartments.com?

Snestico searches several of the same sources at once and adds what they don't: roommate matching, fair-price and commute answers for each home, scam red flags and a local marketplace. Some renters still browse a big portal too; Snestico is built to be the place where the search and the decision come together.
